Beer industry solution - Meterized

Meterized - is a product dedicated to bar service. It consists of two parts, a device for measuring the amount of beer in the keg and a connected app. The application contains many additional functions for collecting and analyzing data. It can also be connected to a cash register to get a full range of control.

Monitoring resource consumption for bars and cafés

Meterized - is a product dedicated to bar service. It consists of two parts, a device for measuring the amount of beer in the keg and a connected app. The application contains many additional functions for collecting and analyzing data. It can also be connected to a cash register to get a full range of control.

What were the goals of the project?

  1. To create a device that counts the amount of beer poured from a keg.
  2. To create an easy-to-use and intuitive application combined with a measuring device and a fiscal cash register.

What steps did we take to complete the commissioned project?

The device can be installed in any bar. It is portable, does not require special infrastructure or adaptation of the premises, and its operation is easy and intuitive. It was created by our Embedded specialists. However, we also had to think about designing the interfaces of this small device. During the workshop, we mainly focused on creating user personas for the device and designing understandable and friendly messages.

The second goal of the project was to create an application that would allow us to measure the amount of beer that is poured from the keg. For what purpose? To collect data and then analyze it. By closely monitoring the flow of beer and accessing reports, anomalies and faults can be detected faster and sales and costs can be optimized effectively. Using the app allows you to monitor the bar from anywhere and from any distance. During a series of workshops, we created personae and user paths, recorded a series of their tasks to create the first mockups of the application. After analyzing them, it remained to apply a UI layer and we got the final version of the app.

What were the challenges in this project?

Definitely the design of the reports section. We had to present the collected data in such a way that it had real value for the user and gave answers in a clear and quick way. At the bar, there is no time for lengthy analysis and searching for information in an array of data. There is a lot of traffic and confusion, so the speed of the interface was important. When designing the device we also had to keep this in mind, so that configuring it when connecting it to a new keg, would be quick and easy, and to eliminate errors that can happen in a hurry.
